TGS Report Feb 23 2010

Hi everyone- thanks as always for your great ideas. The group is really moving along- I think we will see a lot happen in the next few weeks! How exciting!

A quick review of what we covered today. I've added some of my opinions too.

DATES- MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
-Tentative new schedule starting in March: Tuesdays 19:00~, Saturdays
10am~

-Use Saturdays in March as recruiting sessions- have lunch with new members afterwards.

-Plan for big event (social event) around Golden Week in May for revenue and new members in all levels. (Core, Project, Social)

1. Money issues
Ueno-san discussed the money issue and we agreed to collect 1000 yen for now, for the server mainly. Later we will decide how much we need.

We discussed possible revenue opportunities.

a) Social events- set up stylish, trendy networking events for young professionals/college students. I think we should have very "cool"advertisements to attract people. We need a team to figure out a good location and advertisements, as well as plan the content.

I could sing/play cello at this event. There could be a short speech, and mini-interviews as the core members talk with people at the party.

b) Education service

-Pre-departure classes (taught by Chris, Ruriko-san, Kiah, others)

-Mock meetings, etc. for Shakaijin members

c) Consultation service
Aburatorigami project, etc.
Personally, I think this will work better once we have more Shakaijin members who might be actually a part of companies we will be dealing with.

2. Timeline until the "real launch" in April

-Set up event schedule
-Find place for the meeting (if we can't use Aoyama Prep School)
-Website launch
-Recruit core/project members by interview.
-Set up and advertise services (pre-departure service, mock meetings)
-Recruit social members via events

3. Also we discussed splitting the members into 3 levels: 1) Core, 2)Project, 3) Social.

We will have Core and Project members pay for some fees, (like setting
up the server), but they will also be rewarded according to their project success.

Social members will pay for the monthly social event. (i.e. maybe 3000 yen for a dinner, performance, and info session with TGS at a nice
restaurant)

Lastly, TO Dos for Thursday

1. Please do your Profile on Google Groups and JOIN it if you haven’t
already.
2. Think about possible locations for meetings and events.
3. Contact potential members.
4. More ideas for website.

I will bring my computer to the session on Thursday so we can do some stuff on the spot.

I will probably work on the website content after lunch too at a nearby café or something. Anyone is welcome to join me!

OK, see you all on Thursday! Things are starting to move and its an exciting time for TGS! I will try to put as much time as I can into this group because I think it has huge potential. It has huge potential for everyone involved!
